is an undetermined amount of unmeasured inflow into the Wellton-Mohawk aquifer from adjacent underground areas, and an undetermined leaching requirement, which must be taken into consideration. Further, the proposed rate of pumpage will provide area distribution of ground-water storage to insure pumping flexibility and provide underground storage capacity in the event of flood. Because of these and other presently unknown factors (such as rate of land development) it is considered advisable to hold to the average 300-cfs figure until future experience substantiates the need for this amount of discharge, or indicates that a smaller flow can be used without jeopardizing District lands. In addition to the new drainage evacuation channel through the Wellton-Mohawk area, it will be necessary to make provisions for conducting the combined flows from the existing Wellton-Mohawk drainage conveyance channel and the new proposed drainage channel through the South Gila Valley. At present, water from the lower end of the existing channel is conducted through the South Gila Valley by means of an unlined channel (designated Main Outlet Drain) that terminates near the confluence of the Gila and Colorado Rivers. If the flow from the proposed new Wellton-Mohawk drainage conveyance channel is also introduced into the present main outlet drain, the water level will rise and may adversely affect the adjacent landholders.
