In this study a program-demostration for the prediction of river pattern models in areas of different hydrologic regimes is presented. The program is based on the linear perturbation analysis and on STRUIKSMA and KLASSEN's (1988) method to determine the threshold between meandering and braiding channel patterns. Starting from the river bed deformation in different river patterns, and having previously applied the linear stability theory. these authors define the classification criteria that are introduced in the program structure.
