La terminología médica en francés, inglés y español: problemas que se derivan de la presencia del inglés como lingua franca de la comunicación científica a escala internacional

In this article we try to emphasize the difficulties that characterize the translation of medical terminology, from French into Spanish, in a context where English is considered as the lingua franca within the Francophone and Hispanophone Scientific Communities.This particular situation of the English language determines the process of translating medical texts from French into Spanish, but also the adoption of strategies for the research and establishment of terinological equivalences in the target language, in this case, the Spanish language.The main objective is to highlight some particular elements that characterize medical translation – from French into Spanish, although those elements are not related to scientific criteria but to the relationships and influences between the Anglophone Scientific Community and all the other Scientific Communities, including the Francophone Scientific Community and the Hispanophone Scientific CommunityDans cet article on essait de mettre l’accent sur les difficultés qui caractérisent la traduction de la terminologie médicale, du français vers l’espagnol, dans un contexte où l’anglais est considéré comme lingua franca au sein des communautés scientifiques francophone et hispanophone.Cette situation particulière de l’anglais médical conditionne le processus de traduction des textes de medecine, du français vers l’espagnol, mais aussi l’adoption des stratégies pour la recherche et l’établissement des équivalents terminologiques dans la langue cible, dans ce cas-là, l’espagnol.Il s’agit, en somme, de mettre en relief quelques éléments particuliers qui “caractérisent la traduction médicale – du français vers l’espagnol” mais qui ne répondent pas à des critères scientifiques mais aux relations et aux influences exercées par la communauté scientifique anglophone sur toutes les autres, y compris la communauté scientifique francophone et la communauté scientifique hispanophone
