LOS ESSAIS COMO ESCRITURA FILOSÓFICA Y LA PREGUNTA POR LA IDENTIDAD PERSONAL

I argue that Montaigne is a useful antecedent in the matter of personal identity. Between an introduction and a conclusion, this paper is divided into five parts. Firstly, I explain the montaignean scepticism and its relationship with the evolution of modern science and philosophy. Secondly, I argue the peculiarity of the question about the self. Thirdly, I comment on how the question of personal identity is tackled in the Essais. Fourthly, I show that, in the case of Montaigne, that implies the production of a new philosophical writing, the essay. And fifthly, I state that the point of view that in this paper is defended about Montaigne is related to contemporary views like Ricoeur and Adorno.Se sostiene que Montaigne es un antecedente aprovechable respecto de la cuestión de la identidad personal. Entre una introducción y una conclusión, el artículo se divide en cinco partes. Primero, se perfila el escepticismo montaigneano y su relación con la evolución de la ciencia y la filosofía modernas. Segundo, se defiende la peculiaridad de la pregunta por el yo. Tercero, se comenta cómo se aborda en los Essais la pregunta por la identidad personal. Cuarto, se muestra cómo en el caso de Montaigne esta cuestión supone generar una escritura filosófica nueva, el ensayo. Y quinto, se relaciona la interpretación que aquí se defiende de Montaigne respecto del tema que tratamos con interpretaciones contemporáneas como son las de Ricoeur y Adorno
