A clearly defined articulation process between Technical and Further Education (TAFE) and university study is an important component in fostering the process of lifelong learning for many individuals. It can also provide university access and opportunity for disadvantaged groups in society. Recognition of prior learning avoids unnecessary duplication of curriculum areas and it encourages the student to progress more readily in further education without the frustration of revisiting areas of knowledge that they have previously covered.
