Die sekretorischen Aspartatproteasen (Saps) des Hefepilzes Candida albicans gelten als wichtiger Virulenzfaktor dieses opportunistischen Krankheitserregers. Die zehn Sap-Isoenzyme werden von einer Genfamilie codiert, deren Vertreter (SAP1-SAP10) in der Vergangenheit bereits intensiv untersucht wurden.
