The recognition of biopolitics in Park Wan-seo's novel

학위논문 (석사)-- 서울대학교 대학원 : 인문대학 국어국문학과, 2019. 2. 방민호.This study aims to shed light on the writer's sense of the writer's consciousness of confronting the expansion and deepening of sovereignty that dominates Korean society by considering the biopolitical perception shown in the novel by author Park Wan-seo. The novelization of sovereignty in postwar Korean society is a driving force for creativity for Park Wan-seo. The power of life-political sovereignty, which governs and monitors the daily lives of the people and treats life itself as a political subject, has a strong influence not only in exceptional situations such as the Korean War, but also in economic development promoted by dictatorial governments in the 1970s. The economic development under the Park Chung-hee administration has been carried out in a way that activates the myth of the people, and the core of this is to root out a super-nation. The exception that left the people's lives bared during the war is now seen as deepening in the industrialized inner cities. By setting "Biopolitics" as the main element in Park Wan-seo's novel, this Report tries to get a fresh grasp of the post-war literature located in a specific space-time from a continuous perspective. For Park Wan-seo, the operation of life politics by sovereign authority begins with the sense of "Lee Kyung's Desire to Live", the protagonist in his book "Rare Wood". Lee Kyung's confession that she happened to survive while watching his family be bombed in the extreme political space of war shows the structure of sovereignty that produces survival. The writer's perception of biopolitics, which chose the daily life of the war, is problematic in that it starts from an "exception." Agamben, of course, does not see the exception as an extreme example of modern politics, but rather defines it as the fundamental nature of the sovereign structure. Even so, the author's insight into "the bared life" in the war space is worth noting. This study tries to show that such an author's vision is centered on her literary sensibility and that the exception in the narrative of the Korean War continues to appear in industrialized cities and in the history of old age. Park Wan-seo was a writer who rose in 1970 at the age of 40. As she has a heavy memory of war, the meaning of the postwar space of 17 years since the declaration of a ceasefire (1953.7.27) is also significant. If the post-war space is evaluated as a time of maturity to identify the nature of war, along with the desire for liberal democracy that has emerged under the authoritarian regime, it would have a view to comprehensively consider the similar characteristics inherent in the two paragraphs (the dictatorship-the war). Then, we can take a look at the modern history of Korea and assume a section of biopolitics that penetrates the works of Park Wan-seo, who succeeded in making a novel. It is 'dailyization of exception'. If during the war, the distinction between our allies and the enemy changed for a moment as the front moved, The dailyization of exception will produce the people/non-people (or people/non-ethnic) in the inner city, and the reproducer/non-renewable or boys/girls in the family. First, the second chapter will select novels based on the narrative background of the Korean War and reveal what violent structures the characters in the novel are under. People living on the Korean Peninsula during the Korean War are forced to respond to the call of certain ideologies depending on which government occupies the area. The characters who appeared in "Rare Wood," "The thirsty Season," "The heaviest dentures in the world," "Near the Buddha," and "Return Land" experienced exception during the Korean War. Furthermore, the exception during the war forms a structure that constantly suppresses characters through monitoring and punishment in the context of the war. This study will focus on the author's intention in Chapter 2 to identify the situation in which people who suffer continuously during the Korean War and later periods are described as "Korean constraints." Chapter 3 noted judicial power as a institution to maintain the modern national system. The representatives of judicial power in the work are capable of maintaining and stopping the power of law. The judicial power organization are the fundamental structures that constitute the unity of the system of the people's state, and they are presented in a super-status form, in which the norm and exception are self-imposed, including the suspension of the law's effect. On the other hand, This report would like to describe the structure of exploiting the bodies of poor workers in capitalist nation. Those who are desperately surviving under heavy labor are "bared life" located outside the legal boundaries. The creation of a structure in which life is capital, and capital is circulated to life, is etched into the bodies of certain workers and exposes life to threat. In Chapter 4, This study will reveal the life-force involved in family ideology through the author's novel. In particular, this report aims to reveal how the 1970s landscape, which saw a surge in the phenomenon of Lee Chon-hyang, is being connected to the novel by the author. In particular, This study want to show how the writer's novels reflect the era of the rise of the phenomenon of Rural-Urban Migration. Park Wan-seo, who is known to have made the biggest change through Rural-Urban Migration, is paying attention to the influx of elderly people into cities, suggesting that new social problems have emerged. In Park Wan-seo's work, old people who moved from farming and fishing villages are described as objects of segregation that do not belong to family and society, who have yet to have death but lead miserable lives amid dying. Thus her works repeatedly put their lives on the stage of the novel, asking for new imagination of the life and body of old age. Park Wan-seo is paying attention to the elderly who are located on the border between humans/non-humans, and is thus asking anew the meaning of human beings. Meanwhile, This study want to reveal in his novels the scenes of life-threatening birth control. Author Park Wan-seo will mainly make novels about the Korean War, nationalist development, and the disintegration of the family community. The work of Park Wan-seo can be seen as a focus on the grand narrative inherent in Korean society. Therefore, the study wanted to reveal how laws, institutions, and discussions are affecting Korean society in the process of analyzing his novels. This paper attempted to use resistant writing to counter the nationalist ideology of politicizing the lives of the people in the critical practice discourse. Liotar is looking for the "Post Modern", which is the keynote of modern literature in " La Condition postmoderne," at the "doubt of grand narrative." If so, Park's novels should be read from a strategic perspective, which destroys the epicenter formed during the construction process of the modern nation. Park Wan-seo's fictional characters, who have led to the possibility of reflecting the violence of nationalist ideology, are inducing a wealth of imagination about human life.본 연구는 작가 박완서 소설에 나타난 생명정치적 인식을 고찰해봄으로써 한국 사회를 지배하고 있는 주권권력의 확대·심화에 맞선 작가의식을 새롭게 규명해보고자 했다. 전후 한국 사회에 있어 주권권력에 대한 소설화는 박완서에게 있어 창작의 동인이다. 국민의 일상을 지배하고 감시하며 생명 그 자체를 정치적 주제로 다루는 생명정치적 주권권력은 6·25전쟁과 같은 예외상태에서 뿐만 아니라 1970년대 독재정권이 추진한 경제개발 속에서도 강한 영향력을 갖는다. 박정희 정권기 경제개발은 민족의 신화를 작동시키는 방식으로 진행됐으며 초-국가를 정초하는 것이 그 핵심을 이룬다. 전쟁 중 국민들의 생명을 벌거벗게 만든 예외상태는 이제 산업화된 도심에서 심화된 양상을 보인다. 이 글은 생명정치를 박완서 소설에서 형상화하고자 한 요체로 설정함으로써 특정 시공간에 위치한 전후문학을 연속된 관점에서 새롭게 파악하고자 했다. 작가에게 있어 주권권력에 의한 생명정치의 작동은 그의 등단작인 『나목』에서 주인공 이경이 갖는 살고 싶음의 감각에서부터 시작한다. 전쟁이라는 극단적인 정치적 공간 안에서 가족이 폭살당하는 것을 목도하며 우연히 살아남게 됐다는 이경의 고백은 생존을 생산하는 주권권력의 구조를 여실히 드러낸다. 폭격이 난무하는 전쟁 일상을 서사배경으로 택한 작가의 생명정치 인식은 예외상태로부터 출발하며 국민의 생명을 보호하는 법이 중지된 순간을 예리하게 포착한다. 아감벤은 예외상태가 현대 정치의 극단적인 사례라고 보지 않고 오히려 주권 구조가 지닌 근본적인 성격으로 규정한다. 전쟁 공간 속의 벌거벗은 생명에 주목한 작가의 통찰은 고찰되어야 하며, 전쟁서사를 넘어 도시 및 노년서사에 이르기까지를 아우를 수 있는 포괄적 방법론을 강구해야 한다. 따라서 본고는 생명정치의 인식을 박완서의 문학관 중심에 위치시키며, 6·25전쟁 서사에 나타난 예외상태가 산업화된 도시 및 노년서사에까지 지속적으로 등장하고 있음을 밝히고자 한다. 박완서는 1970년 그의 나이 40세의 나이에 등단한 작가이다. 전쟁의 기억이 무거운 만큼 휴전이 선포(1953.7.27.)된 이후 17년이란 전후 공간의 의미 또한 작가에게 있어 유의미하다. 전후 공간을 독재정권 하에서 발현한 자유민주주의에 대한 열망과 더불어, 전쟁의 성격을 규명해볼 수 있는 숙의의 시간으로 평가한다면, 이 두 가지 항(독재정권-전쟁)에 내재한 유사한 성격을 통합적으로 고찰해볼 수 있는 시각을 갖게 됐을 것이다. 그렇다면 한국근현대사를 통시적으로 고찰해 소설화에 성공한 박완서의 작품들을 관통하고 있는 생명정치 특질의 한 단면을 가정해볼 수 있는데, 그것은 바로 예외상태의 일상화이다. 전쟁 중 예외상태가 아군과 적군의 구분이 전선의 이동에 따라 일순간 뒤바뀌는 기능을 했다면, 예외상태의 일상화는 도심 속에서 국민/비국민(혹은 민족/비민족)을 생산하게 되고, 가족 내에선 재생산자/비재생산자 혹은 남아(男)/여아(女)를 조직하게 된다. 먼저 2장에서는 6·25전쟁을 서사배경으로 하는 소설들을 선별해 주권권력에 의해 소설 내 인물들이 어떤 폭력적 구조 속에 포함 돼 있는지를 밝혔다. 6·25전쟁 당시 한반도에 거주한 사람들은 어떤 정부가 해당 지역을 점령하는가에 따라 특정 이데올로기의 호명에 응답할 수밖에 없는 처지에 놓인다. 『나목』, 『목마른 계절』, 「세상에서 제일 무거운 틀니」, 「부처님 근처」, 「돌아온 땅」 등에 등장하는 인물들은 6·25전쟁 중 예외상태를 경험하게 된다. 뿐만 아니라 전쟁 중 예외상태는 전후 맥락 안에서 감시와 처벌을 통해 인물들을 지속적으로 억압하는 구조를 형성한다. 6·25전쟁과 그 이후의 시기에 지속적으로 고통 받는 인물들이 처한 상황을 한국적 제약이라고 명명한 작가의 의도를 2장에서 중점적으로 살피고자 한다. 3장에서는 현대 국가 시스템을 유지하기 위한 제도로서의 사법권력에 주목하였다. 이번 장에서는 「연인들」, 「조그만 체험기」, 「꿈과 같이」, 「어느 시시한 사내 이야기」, 「카메라와 워커」, 「도둑맞은 가난」 등을 주요 분석 대상으로 하여, 사법권력 대리자의 수행 및 초-입법적 생명경제화되는 장면들을 분석하였다. 사법권력 기관은 국민국가의 시스템의 통합을 이루는 근원적 구조인데, 법의 효력을 중지시키는 것을 포함하기에 정상과 예외를 스스로 정초하는 초위상적 형태로 제시된다. 한편, 자본주의 국가 내에서 가난한 노동자의 몸을 착취하는 구조에 대해서 기술하고자 한다. 강도 높은 노동을 감수하며 필사적으로 생존하는 인물들은 법의 테두리 바깥에 위치한 벌거벗은 생명이다. 생명이 곧 자본이고, 자본이 곧 생명으로 순환하는 구조의 생성은 특정 노동자의 몸들에 새겨지며 생명을 위협에 노출시킨다. 4장에서는 가족 이데올로기에 개입되고 있는 생명권력의 모습들을 작가의 소설을 통해 드러내고자 했다. 특히 본고에서는 이촌향도 현상이 급증한 시대를 작가의 소설에서 어떻게 반영하고 있는지를 밝히고자 하는데, 박완서는 이촌향도를 통해 가장 큰 변화가 이뤄진 것으로 노년 인구의 도시 유입을 주목하고 있으며 이를 통해 새로운 사회 문제가 대두했음을 시사한다. 박완서의 작품에서 농어촌 발(發) 노년들은 가족과 사회 그 어디에도 속해있지 않은 격리의 대상으로 묘사되는데, 이 노년들은 아직 죽음(death)을 갖진 않았지만 죽어감(dying) 속에서 비참한 생활들을 영위하는 존재들이다. 따라서 그의 작품들은 노년의 삶과 몸에 대한 새로운 상상력을 요청하며 반복적으로 그들의 삶을 소설의 무대에 올린다. 작가는 인간/비인간의 경계에 위치한 노년들에 주목하고 있으며, 이를 통해 인간의 의미를 새롭게 묻고 있다. 한편, 출산담론을 둘러싸고 생명의 위계화가 이뤄지는 현장들을 그의 소설에서 밝혔다. 작가 박완서는 6·25전쟁·국가주의 발전·가족 공동체의 해체 등을 주로 소설화한다. 이러한 박완서의 작업은 한국 사회에 내재한 거대서사에 대한 주목으로 볼 수 있으며, 이 속에 기입된 억압을 비판한 것으로 볼 수 있다. 따라서 그의 소설을 분석하는 과정에서 법·제도·담론 등이 현재 한국사회에 어떤 영향력을 끼치고 있는지를 밝히고자 했다. 본고는 비판적 실천 담론 속에서 국민의 생명을 정치화하는 국가주의 이데올로기에 맞설 수 있는 저항적 글쓰기를 시도했다. 리오타르는 『포스트 모던의 조건』에서 현대문학의 기조가 되고 있는 포스트 모던함을 거대 서사의 회의에서 찾고 있다. 그렇다면 박완서의 소설은 현대 국가의 건설의 과정 중에 형성된 거대서사를 부수는 기획적 차원에서 파악해야 함이 옳다. 국가주의 이데올로기의 폭력성을 성찰 가능하도록 이끈 박완서의 소설 속 인물들은 인간 생명 및 삶에 대해 풍부한 상상력을 유도하고 있다.1. 서론 1 1.1. 연구사 검토 및 문제 제기 1 1.2. 연구의 시각과 범위 15 2. 전쟁에서 국민이라는 경계와 비국민의 생명 32 2.1. 살아남은 자의 수치심과 증언가능성 32 2.2. 빨갱이라는 혐오와 낙인으로서의 호명 44 3. 도시민의 일상을 지배하는 생명정치 65 3.1. 일상을 다스리는 주권권력의 위상 65 3.2. 초-입법적 생명경제와 노동자의 생명 74 4. 생명권력으로서의 가족이데올로기 89 4.1. 노화와 질병으로 인한 '죽어감(dying)'의 과정으로서의 몸 89 4.2. 여성의 몸을 가로지르는 출산담론 105 5. 결론 116 119 128Maste
