Future SOCs will have tens or even hundreds of processing elements. It is not trivial how the co-operation of these elements should be organized so that the power of multiple elements could be used to solve heavy computational problems. In this presentation we will take a short look at the theory of parallel computing to see what it can offer to SOC design. We will introduce the basic terms of parallel computing, explain main problems related to parallel computing, give a short overview of parallel architectures and technical solutions that are required to implement advanced models in realistic hardware
