Data presented in this paper related to Malaysian university reaerch-based students’ perceptions that affect their psychological health during the COVID-19 pandemic. A sample of 384 was drawn from approximately 193,570 population both Ph.D. and research-based Master students who are currently studying in Malaysia during the COVID-19 pandemic. A simple random sampling technique was used to collect the data. Data were collected through an online survey questionnaire. The surveys were administered to the Ph.D. and research-based master’s students between June 15 and June 29, 2020, with the support of Internet platforms (Institutional Email, Google Form, WhatsApp), and resulted in valid 103 responses.
