FINAL YEAR PROJECT THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON THE MENTAL HEALTH OF UNIVERSITY STUDENT IN MALAYSIA

The Covid-19 pandemic has a significant impact on public mental health. Fear, anxiety, stress, and depression have been triggered by the widespread of Covid-19 pandemic among the general public, particularly among university students in some countries who have been influenced significantly by the pandemic due to the lockdown and scarce resources to deal with it. The study aims to study the factors that affect the mental health of university students during Covid-19 pandemic, impacts of Covid-19 pandemic on mental health of university students in Malaysia and also relationship between the mental health of university students and the changes of study mode during Covid-19 pandemic. Specifically, the result of the study has a better knowledge and understanding on the mental health of university students in Malaysia. A total of 305 university students in Malaysia who experienced or experiencing online learning during the pandemic. A standardize questionnaire was generated using the Google Form, and the link was shared through social media. The information was analysed through descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The findings reported there are some factors and impacts hypothesized are not applicable in this study. The factors that applicable are students worry about their future career prospect and this affected their mental health, students also worry about surviving if they infected by Covid-19 as well as worry the virus may infect their family members, and not least family financial problem able to affect the students’ mental health.
