The banking sector is an important activity in the country. As in other sectors of the Belgian economy it is characterised by an insitutionalised model of social dialogue and mutual recognition of employers’ organisation and trade unions in two joint sector committees (no. 310 and 308). Collective bargaining is a mix of a sectoral framework (for small banks) and further implementation at company level (in the large banks). The financial crisis has hit Belgium’s banking sector hard, but so far had little effect on the structure of social partner relations.status: publishe
