The condition of flow in the hydrologic network of calcareous mountains of the high Doubs (France ) corresponds to the influence of the snow covering on hydrologic ground waters outputs. The winter low flow period of the different springs is twice higher than the summer period . The geo thermic flux at the basal part of the snow cover is one of the possible causes of this phenomenon . This can give ,in winter, a daily melting of 0.6 to 0.8 mm . Under a sufficient thickness of snow the soil is saturated and a little flow of water (5 to 9 l.s-l/km2) can permit the aquifers recharges During some periods of atmospheric elevation of air temperature , the rain added up with the melting snow covering leads to high flow rates .
