A study of the impact of urban development on sub-surface water has been carried out in the new town of Evry. The considerable drop of water level that was noticed is due neither to a climatic change nor to a defective supply that might have been related to increasing waterproofing. It is the result of drainage through railway trenches as well as draining collectors.
