The synthesis of new collecting reagents for the flotation of sulphide copper ores

Ksantogenian etylowy i izobutylowy w mieszaninie z ditiofosforanem etylowym (Hostaflot LET®) stosowane są jako odczynniki zbierające (kolektory) w procesach wzbogacania krajowych rud miedzi metodą flotacji pianowej. Jednakże, w niedalekiej przyszłości, stosowanie ksantogenianów jako kolektorów w krajach Unii Europejskiej może się okazać niemożliwe ze względów formalnych. Opracowanie oligomerów z pierwszorzędowymi grupami aminowymi i ditiokarbaminowymi działających jako kolektory i aktywatory są przedmiotem badań opisanych w tej pracy. W pierwszym etapie badań syntetyzowano polimery i oligomery N-winyloformamidu, po czym w procesie hydrolizy alkalicznej otrzymano poli- i oligowinyloaminę. Modyfikując grupy aminowe disiarczkiem węgla (CS2) otrzymano szereg preparatów o różnym stopniu podstawienia grup aminowych (różnej zawartości grup ditiokarbaminianowych). Kolejny etap badań miał na celu hydrofobizację oligomerycznej winyloaminy w reakcji grup aminowych z chlorkiem waleroilu, bezwodnikiem walerowym i epoksybutanem. Otrzymano trzy serie preparatów o różnym stopniu podstawienia grup aminowych. Kolejny etap modyfikacji polegał na generowaniu grup ditiokarbaminianowych w reakcji grup aminowych oligomeru z CS2. Wszystkie otrzymane preparaty zostały scharakteryzowane w oparciu o widma FTIR-ATR i wyniki analizy elementarnej i przekazane do Instytutu Metali Nieżelaznych w Gliwicach celem wykonania testów flotacyjnych w skali laboratoryjnej. Wstępne wyniki wykazały, że zaproponowana strategia użycia oligomerów z grupami aminowymi i ditiokarbaminowymi jako zbieraczy (kolektorów) i aktywatorów może stanowić alternatywę dla stosowania małocząsteczkowych ksantogenianów w prosie wzbogacania siarczkowych rud miedzi.Ethyl and isobutyl xanthate in a mixture with ethyl dithiophosphate (Hostaflot LET®) are used as collecting reagents (collectors) in the processes of enrichment of domestic copper ores by the froth flotation method. However, in the near future, the use of xanthates as collectors in the European Union countries may prove impossible due to formal reasons. The development of oligomers with the primary amine and dithiocarbamino groups acting as collectors and activators are the subject of the research described in this work.In the first stage of the research, polymers and oligomers of N-vinylformamide were synthesized, followed by the alkaline hydrolysis process in which poly- and oligovinylamine were obtained. By modifying the amine groups with carbon disulphide (CS2), a series of formulations with varying degrees of amino group substitution (various dithiocarbamate groups) were obtained.The next stage of the research was to hydrophobize oligomeric vinylamine by the reaction of amino groups with valeroyl chloride, valeric anhydride and epoxybutane. Three series of formulations with different degrees of amino group substitution were obtained. The next stage of modification consisted in generating dithiocarbamate groups in the reaction of amino groups of the oligomer with CS2.All preparations obtained were characterized based on the FTIR-ATR spectra and the results of elemental analysis and then there were transferred to the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals in Gliwice to perform flotation tests on a laboratory scale. Preliminary results showed that the proposed strategy of using oligomers with amine and dithiocarbamino groups as collectors (collectors) and activators may be an alternative to the use of low-molecular xanthates in the process of enriching copper sulphide ores
