Non-sexist language? Analysis of linguistic change in the Spanish journalistic discourse

Celem pracy jest analiza procesów językowych związanych z coraz powszechniejszym dążeniem do zaznaczania kobiecej obecności w dyskursie. Język hiszpański obfituje w strategie i konstrukcje leksykalne i gramatyczne, które pozwalają uniknąć seksizmu i androcentryzmu językowego oraz podkreślić obecność i aktywność kobiet we wszystkich sferach życia. Badaniu poddano język hiszpańskiej prasy codziennej, w którym przeanalizowane zostały najważniejsze zjawiska związane z problemem deprecjonowania kobiet w języku: żeńskie formy nazw zawodów oraz użycie rodzaju męskiego w funkcji generycznej.In recent years it has been claimed in the Spanish language linguistic change regarding gender-neutral references and the visibility of female presence in discourse. The aim of the present study is to verify whether the evolution observed and declared in several modern investigations is reflected in the everyday use of language. The analysis covers lexical and grammatical strategies that allow to avoid androcentrism and sexism in discourse. The research aims at identifying in the Spanish journalistic discourse the employment of the two most significant phenomena in the process of linguistic change to non-sexist language: the female names of professions and the use of generic and specific masculine.En los últimos años se ha afirmado un cambio lingüístico observable en la lengua española respecto a las referencias genéricas y la visibilización de la presencia femenina en el discurso. Este trabajo tiene por objetivo verificar en qué medida la evolución observada y declarada en varias investigaciones se refleja en el uso cotidiano del idioma. El análisis abarca los recursos capaces de realizar una referencia genérica y otras estrategias léxicas y gramaticales que, al ser empleadas, permiten eludir el androcentrismo y sexismo en el discurso. Se examina el empleo en la prensa española de los dos fenómenos más significativos en el proceso de cambio lingüístico hacia el lenguaje no sexista: las denominaciones femeninas de profesiones y el uso de masculino genérico y específico
