Impact of circulation types on maximum diurnal variation of precipitations in the vertical profile of the Carpathians

This paper concerns the impact of circulation types on maximum daily precipitation in the Polish Carpathians. It shows the formation of precipitation in the vertical profile of the Carpathians. The study used data of the total daily precipitations from the years 1971-1980 for the stations Kraków-Balice, Zakopane, Kasprowy Wierch. These stations due to their location in terms of altitude and geographical location are representative of the vertical profile of the Carpathians. For the analysis of the synoptic situation calendar we use atmospheric circulation types by T. Niedźwiedź for the analyzed ten years . This study shows the effect of different types of circulation on the formation of daily sums of precipitation in the vertical profile of the area in question. It determined the average total daily circulation in the different types and their differentiation is shown in three meteorological stations. Such analyses were conducted in different seasons of the year. It was found that regardless of the season, the highest daily rainfall amount, regardless of location, occurred in the cyclonic situations, especially with the influx of N and N and Bc. The highest daily rainfall total reached more than 50 mm in height and also it was recorded in the presence of the above-mentioned types. This work fully confirms the regularities previously described in the literature.Niniejsza praca dotyczy wpływu typów cyrkulacji na maksymalne opady dobowe w Karpatach Polskich. Przedstawiono kształtowanie się opadów w profilu pionowym Karpat. W pracy wykorzystano dane dobowych sum opadów atmosferycznych z lat 1971-1980 dla stacji Kraków-Balice, Zakopane, Kasprowy Wierch. Stacje te ze względu na swoje położenie pod względem wysokości nad poziomem morza oraz położenia geograficznego są reprezentatywne dla profilu pionowego Karpat. Do analizy sytuacji synoptycznych wykorzystano kalendarz typów cyrkulacji atmosfery T. Niedźwiedzia dla analizowanego 10-lecia. Przedstawiono wpływ poszczególnych typów cyrkulacji na kształtowanie dobowych sum opadów atmosferycznych w profilu pionowym rozpatrywanego obszaru. Określono średnie sumy dobowe w poszczególnych typach cyrkulacji i przedstawiono ich zróżnicowanie uwzględniając trzy stacje meteorologiczne. Analizy zostały przeprowadzone w poszczególnych sezonach roku. Stwierdzono, że niezależnie od sezonu najwyższe sumy dobowe opadów niezależnie od lokalizacji występowały przy sytuacjach cyklonalnych zwłaszcza z napływem N i NE oraz Bc. Najwyższe sumy dobowe opadów sięgnęły wysokości ponad 50 mm i również je zanotowano przy występowaniu wyżej wymienionych typów. Praca w pełni potwierdza dotychczas opisane w literaturze prawidłowości
