Religion as a byproduct, the origin of the forming of religious beliefs in terms of cognitive science

The goal of this work is to synthesize the results of research conducted in the area of cognitive science of religion. It presents chosen trends that propose new theories of the forming of religions as a result of the breakthrough in the humanities and the development in research on mind and consciousness. The work is an attempt at reviewing contemporary theories of the forming of religious beliefs in anthropology, evolutionary psychology and cognitive neuroscience. Also, it presents cognitive criticism of the classical religious theories. Moreover, the work presents the mental mechanisms responsible for the forming of religious images as well as tools for studying them. Finally, it is an attempt at indicating some imprefections of assumptions concerning religion that arise from cognitive considerations.Praca jest próbą ukazania wyników badań przeprowadzonych na gruncie kognitywnego religioznawstwa. Przedstawia nurty, w jakich są umiejscowione i analizowane teorie dotyczące powstawania religii w związku z przełomem w rozwoju nauk humanistycznych i rozwojem badań nad umysłem i świadomością. Stara się przedstawić współczesne tezy dotyczące tworzenia się przekonań religijnych z punktu widzenia antropologii, psychologii ewolucyjnej i poznawczej oraz szeroko pojętych neuronauk. Ukazuje krytykę klasycznych teorii religioznawczych z punktu widzenia nauk kognitywnych. Przedstawia mechanizmy psychiczne odpowiedzialne za tworzenie się wyobrażeń religijnych i narzędzia służące do ich badania. Usiłuje również wskazać na niedoskonałości założeń dotyczących religii, powstających w polu rozważań kognitywistyki
