The Great Depression - a Great Development? The American Cinematography during the Economic Recession of 1929-1939 period

Praca przedstawia sytuację kina w czasie Wielkiego Kryzysu. Opisuje rozwój jego technologii jak i tworzące się w tym czasie zróżnicowanie gatunkowe produkcji filmowych. Celem pracy jest wskazanie faktu doskonałej kondycji kinematografii, trwającej pomimo panującej w kraju recesji, oraz jej ważnej, eskapistycznej roli w życiu społeczeństwa.This thesis presents a situation of cinematography during the Great Depression. It describes its technological development and the variety of movie genres which also developed during that time. The thesis' main purpose is to indicate the fact of cinematography's great form in spite of the overall economic recession in the country, plus the important, escapist role it played in the social life of the period
