Sound is one of the first sensory stimuli we have access to even before birth. According to numerous studies, sound is the basis of language acquisition. Then, what happens for a child born deaf? This essay explores the question of language acquisition for a children born deaf who received a cochlear implant. First of all, we will lay down the principles of language acquisition for a hearing child, and question the cognitive development related to this process.
