The goal of the present article is to study the key notions of the mass media theory, political linguistics, journalism and other scientific and applied fields: information and mass communication. The phenomenon of information is considered in its two main forms: as any data or messages delivered to the recipient and as valuable knowledge, really nec-essary to an individual in their every-day and professional activity, as well as important for the formation and consolidation of their moral personality traits.
