Biometric identification systems and biometric information from the perspective of personal data protection

Los avances experimentados en el desarrollo de los sistemas de identificación biométrica y el uso de la información biométrica como mecanismo de identificación han puesto de manifiesto la necesidad de otorgar una adecuada protección jurídica en este ámbito. En el presente trabajo se analizan las implicaciones jurídicas y éticas de la aplicación de dichos sistemas y el tratamiento de de la información biométrica desde la óptica de la protección de datos de carácter personal.The progress in the development of biometric identification systems, and the use of biometric information as a means of identification, have highlighted the need to provide adequate legal protection in this area.
