Die Einführung eines Ersatz-, Alternativ- oder Wahlpflichtfaches Ethik in den Schulen der meisten Länder der BRD geht davon aus, daß Ethik lehrbar sei. Dabei wird Ethik in einem weiten Sinne verstanden, jedoch primär als ein Unterrichtsgegenstand, der zu sittlichem Urteilen und Handeln befähigen soll. Der Text, dem ein Vortrag vor den Teilnehmern einer Expertentagung an der TU Dresden im November 1994 zugrunde liegt, erörtert skeptisch-transzendentalkritisch, ob die an das Fach geknüpften Erwartungen begründet beziehungsweise welche ungeklärten Voraussetzungen gemacht sind, um Ethik für lehrbar zu halten.
