The university goes back to the Kingston Technical Institute, founded in 1899. In 1926 the Institute was recognised as a Technical College. In 1930 the Kingston School of Art split from the Technical College and moved to Knights Park in 1939, where it was recognised as a College of Art in 1945. The fashion course focuses on evolution and radical change in design. Students will explore how design is influenced by cultural, social, critical and historical studies. During the course students shall develop a signature style, experimenting across sketch work, 2D to 3D, knitwear and digital print in Kingston School of Art's workshops and fashion design studios.
