The place and importance of Ibn Khaldun in sociology of civilizations

Yüksek Lisans Teziİbn Haldun iktisattan siyasete tarihten eğitime kadar birçok alanda özgün fikirler sergilemiş olan bir düşünürdür. Bu çalışmada İbn Haldun'un medeniyet algısı ve medeniyetler sosyolojisine katkılarının tanıtılması hedeflenmiştir. Tezimizde İbn Haldun'un medeniyet konularındaki düşünce ve değerlendirmeleri araştırılmıştır. İbn Haldun'un medeniyet algısının temel unsurları yorumlanmıştır. İbn Haldun, Mukaddime'de medeniyet kavramını doğrudan kullanmadan, umran, bedevilik, hadarilik kavramları üzerinden bir medeniyet teorisi geliştirmiştir. Bu çerçevede İbn Haldun genel bir insanlık medeniyeti düşüncesi ortaya koymuştur.Ibn Khaldun who is a thinker exhibits original ideas in many ways from economy to politics and from history and education. In this study, it is aimed to introduce Ibn Khaldun's perception of civilization and contributions to sociology of civilizations. In our thesis the consideration and assessments of Ibn Khaldun about the civilization have been inquired. The basic elements of Ibn Khaldun's concept of civilization were interpreted. Ibn Khaldun develops a civilization theory through society, primitivism and city planning without using civilization conception directly in Muqaddimah.
