Con el ingreso a la sociedad internacional de antiguas colonias europeas en Asia y África después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, comienza una nueva era signada por la Conferencia Afroasiática de Bandung (Indonesia, 1955) de la cual se desprenden dos brazos: uno político en el Movimiento de los Países No Alineados, y uno económico en el Grupo de los 77.
