Formación científica-investigativa en estudiantes de medicina

Introduction: the training of scientific-research skills is one of the activities that guarantee the comprehensive development in medical students. Objective: to describe the training of scientific-research skills in medical students. Method: an observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted at "Pedro Borrás Astorga" University Polyclinic in Pinar del Río city from September 2017 to March 2018. The target group consisted of 316 students from the first and second academic years of medical studies. The results were presented in charts and statistical tables, making comparisons with other studies with reference to this topic. Results: the first academic year of medical studies and female sex prevailed in both academic years (66,3 % in the first) and (65,3 % in the second). Scientific conferences predominated as the main scientific-research activity (100 %), and the teaching of training activities (33,9 %). With respect to the scientific-investigative characteristics of medical students, 100 % presented the development of scientific research skills and work of tutors from the Primary Health Care, as well as the scientific work from the honorary staff and the assistantship, 27,5 % and 22,8 % of the students respectively, 14,9 % obtained awards in the research works presented. Conclusions: the training of scientific-research skills in medical students was described, which constitutes a fundamental tool in the sustainability and development of the primary health care level.Introducción: la formación científica-investigativa constituye una de las actividades que garantizan el proceso de integralidad en estudiantes de medicina.Objetivo: describir la formación científica-investigativa en estudiantes de medicina.Método: se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo y transversal en el Policlínico Universitario “Pedro Borrás Astorga” de la ciudad Pinar del Río durante el período septiembre 2017 a marzo 2018. El universo de estudio estuvo conformado por 316 estudiantes entre primer y segundo años de la carrera de medicina. Los resultados fueron presentados en gráficos y tablas estadísticas, realizándose comparaciones con otros estudios consultados al respecto.Resultados: predominó el primer año de la carrera Medicina y el sexo femenino en ambos años académicos (66,3 % en el primero) y (65,3 % en el segundo). Prevalecieron las jornadas científicas como actividad científica-investigativa (100 %) y los cursos como actividades de superación (33,9 %). Relacionado con las características científicas-investigativas en estudiantes el 100 % presentó desarrollo de investigaciones científicas y trabajo tutorial desde la Atención Primaria de Salud, en el trabajo científico desde cátedras honoríficas y ayudantía se destacaron el 27,5 % y 22,8 % de los estudiantes respectivamente, un 14,9 % obtuvo resultados de premio en investigaciones.Conclusiones: se describió la formación científica-investigativa en estudiantes de medicina, la cual constituye una herramienta fundamental en la sostenibilidad y desarrollo del nivel primario de atención
