Determination of the plasticising limit of the clayey soils using the falling cone method

Bakalaura darbā izklāstīts pētījums par mālaino grunšu plastiskuma robežas noteikšanu, izmantojot krītošā konusa metodi. Plastiskuma robežas noteikšana, izmantojot standartizētās metodes, ir subjektīva, un iegūto rezultātu kvalitāte ir tieši atkarīga no laboranta subjektīvās pieredzes. Lai arī šī problēma pastāv kopš testēšanas metožu standartizēšanas, Latvijā līdz šim nav publicēti darbi, kuros būtu izstrādāta sakarība starp mālaino grunšu plūstamības un plastiskuma robežu. Pētījums balstās uz oriģināliem pētījumu materiāliem, kuri iegūti, izmantojot laboratoriskās pētījumu metodes un teorētiskās korelācijas. Pētījumā ievākti dažāda vecuma mālaino grunšu paraugi no trīs dažādām vietām Latvijā un vienas Igaunijā. Grunts paraugiem noteikti galvenie fizikālie parametri un pārbaudītas citu autoru izstrādātās plastiskuma robežas korelācijas. Pētījumā konstatēta sakarība, kurā mālaino grunšu plastiskuma robeža ir tiešā veidā atkarīga no to plastiskuma robežas, grunts ūdens satura paaugstināšanos un konusa iegrimes palielināšanos. Lietišķā nozīme ir pētījuma gaitā autora izstrādātajai līdz šim nepublicētajai sakarībai, kas piemērojama mālainajām gruntīm, kuras veido illīta minerāli.The bachelor’s thesis presents a study about clayey soils plastic limit determination using the falling cone method. Determination of plasticizing using standardized methods are subjective and quality of obtained results directly depends on subjective experience of laboratory technician . Although this problem has existed since the standardization of testing methods, so far in Latvia no researches have been published where relationship between the flowability and plasticity limit of clay soils would be developed. The study is based on original research materials obtained using laboratory research methods and theoretical correlations. During the study samples of clay soils of different ages were collected from three different locations in Latvia and one in Estonia. The main physical parameters were determined for the soil samples and the correlations of the plasticity limit developed by other authors were verified. The study obtained a correlation in which the plasticity limit of clay soils directly depends on their plasticity limit, increase of groundwater content and penetration of cone.
