The Glebe Theatre Players were established early in 1947 under the aegis of Joyce Eyre (Mrs Phillips), a lecturer in the Department of English. David Mattingley was the Secretary and organiser for the first three years. "The primary aim is to help students obtain a more intimate knowledge of the plays they study ... although it is open to all" (Union Handbook 1949). Plays produced in the first three years were: Ibsen's "A Doll's House", G.B.
