Indicadores bibliométricos de colaboración científica entre Brasil y España: un análisis en el área de la Medicina (2002 -2011)

This study aims at analyzing the evolution as well as the collaborative scientific production between Brazil and Spain and the collaborating countries on Health in the period 2002-2011. Furthermore the index of collaboration among these countries will be analyzed through the identification of the most productive organizations in the analyzed articles. It pretends also to identify the main journals and their distribution in the overall production, their impact factor and the quartile where these journals belong. The information source used to retrieve the articles was Scopus due to its consideration as the principal multidisciplinary database, and the one with the highest geographic coverage. Several national journals were added with the presence of collaboration among Spanish and Brazilian authors. The analyzed documents were original articles, since they are considered the vehicular typology of the scientific communication, discarding any other typology. A total of 1.121 articles were retrieved, with 13.906 signatures and a collaboration index of 12,4 authors per work. The annual growth rate of the scientific collaboration between Brazil and Spain was calculated. The identification of the main journals and their impact indicators was made from the Scimago Journal & Country Rank portal, finding a wide spread of journals (581) where 359 (61,80%) have just participated in one article. A total of 121 different countries have participated, which shows the high level of internationalization of the retrieved works.
