Building codes provide recommendations for the foundation-height ratio where the foundation would be significantly larger than what is seen in this building. Although narrow, tall buildings often suffered the most damage during the 2015 earthquake, such buildings are common in core city areas of Kathmandu as small land plots get divided among family members.
