Marketization of football in the age of globalization

This article aims to demonstrate the commodification of football resulting from the intensification of the globalization process. Just as globalization can be considered a dual process, with both benefits and harms, football transformations follow the same logic: on the one hand structural advances and the insurgency of powerful sports marketing; on the other hand, a certain “electization” of sport. Clubs around the world are investing more and more in marketing and the media fervent for the return of this investment. Paraná football is not free from the global model. Local clubs have also sought out multinational investors and successful marketing models, innovating for evolution in this global field. The methodology used in the construction of this work is significantly qualitative bibliographic. Field research is also used to report more immediate data regarding Curitiba soccer clubs.Este artigo pretende demonstrar a mercadorização do futebol advinda da intensificação do processo de globalização. Assim como a globalização pode ser considerada um processo dual, tanto com benefícios quanto com malefícios, as transformações no futebol seguem a mesma lógica: por um lado avanços estruturais e o insurgimento do poderoso marketing esportivo e por outro uma certa “eletização” do esporte. Os clubes do mundo todo investindo cada vez mais em marketing e a mídia fervorosa pelo retorno protagonizado por esse espetáculo. O futebol paranaense não está livre do modelo global. Os clubes locais também têm procurado investidores multinacionais e modelos de marketing bem sucedidos, inovando em busca de uma evolução nesse campo global. A metodologia utilizada na construção desse trabalho é significativamente qualitativa bibliográfica. Emprega-se ainda a pesquisa de campo para o relato de dados mais imediatos em relação aos clubes de futebol de Curitiba
