FAMÍLIA E DOENÇA MENTAL

This is a theoretical essay about the family and the mental illness.We do believe that it is through knowledge and discussion that the professionals could reflect about ways of engaging the family in the treatment of the mentally ill as well as to help them minimize the difficulties in their daily family life. The authors mentioned in this paper emphasize the importance of the professional support and his/her attendance to the family as well as the importance of perceiving them as the main allies to reinsert the mentally handicapped into the community.Trata-se de um ensaio teórico sobre família e doença mental. Propomos este por acreditar que é a partir do conhecimento e da discussão, que os profissionais podem refletir sobre as formas de envolver a família no tratamento do doente mental assim como, ajudá-los a minimizar as dificuldades que enfrentam na convivência domiciliar. Os autores consultados ressaltam a importância do apoio e acompanhamento do profissional à família, assim como a importância de percebê-los como principais aliados para a reinserção do doente mental na comunidade
