The article aims to contribute to discussions about the importance of Paulo Freire for Brazilian education. Thus, we are based on the Freirean conceptual universe, aiming to build a dialogue with other authors to reflect on education and social reflection. For this, an exploratory qualitative and bibliographic research was carried out, taking the works of Freire, and of other authors to weave the educator's ideas. We justify the importance of this text as a theoretical-critical basis against mismanagements that aspire to projects that flow against critical education.
