Background: Inter-individual variance in skeletal muscle is closely related to genetic architecture and epigenetic regulation. Studies have examined genetic and epigenetic relationships with characteristics of ageing muscle separately, while no study has combined both genetic and epigenetic profiles in ageing muscle research.
