The Desoutter II aircraft OY-DOD flown by D. Hansen with Lt. D. Jensen as his mechanic in the 1934 Centenary Air Race. Entered in the Handicap section the two were the only Danes to enter and were allocated Race No7; the aircraft was sponsored by the Danish newspaper Berlinske Tidende. To increase the range an extra fuel tank was fitted, along with a more powerful Gypsy III engine. The pair departed Mildenhall at 0647 hours on 20 October arriving in Darwin at 0847 hours on 29 October after an uneventful trip. The aircraft departed Darwin later the same day, arriving in Melbourne at 1133 hours on 31 October and was placed seventh overall in the handicap section.Rodd, A. H
