Ken Wallis in the front cockpit of DH88 Comet aircraft G-ACSR at Darwin prior to departure for Melbourne during the Centenary Air Race. Wallis was accompanying Owen Cathcart Jones in the race, flying the Comet aircraft which was allocated Race No 19. The aircraft landed in Darwin at 1313 hours 23 October and departed 30 minutes later at 1343 hours for Melbourne where they arrived at 1645hours on 25 October. With an official time of 108hrs 13mins 45secs the pair claimed third prize of 500 pounds in the speed section.Unknown
