Getting Across is a collection of short stories. The short stories experiment with fiction, autobiography, as well as the speculative and surreal—those moments that distinctly toe the line between real and unreal. Getting Across explores themes of grief, loss, and trauma while striving to maintain honesty and candidness in the face of struggle. These stories are written from third- and first-person perspectives and cover wide spatial and temporal spaces. They strive to deeply understand the connections among people, whether those relationships are familial, platonic, romantic, or with the self. Here, I try to use writing as a means to cope with my own trauma and find closure and acceptance in parts of my life where none was offered. In Gett...
