Prevención bucodental en adolescentes: intervención educativa. (Original)

The buco-dental education constitutes one of the fundamental principles of the stomatology. Taking into account this aspect together with the insufficient knowledge about health and buccal hygiene in a great part of adolescents, the objective of this research is to raise through an educational intervention the level of knowledge about buccal health in adolescents, taking as field of action 8th grade students of the ESBEC "Antonio Betancourt Flores", belonging to the health area of the Joel Benítez Polyclinic of the municipality Cauto Cristo, Granma, Cuba. The research was constituted by 132 students representing the total enrollment of the center, of which 100 were part of the sample. A knowledge survey was applied elaborated starting from the survey of knowledge foreseen in the National Program of Integral Stomatological Attention of Cuba, which was validated by the piloting method, the one that threw the main identified learning necessities before the educational intervention related with: the tooth loss and its causes, the periodontal disease, the buccal hygiene and the frequency of visits to the stomatology’s. The favorable impact that was achieved in the students after applying the educational intervention strategy above the learning necessities and the level of knowledge about buccal health was demonstrated.La educación bucodental constituye uno de los principios fundamentales de la estomatología. Teniendo en cuenta este aspecto unido al insuficiente conocimiento sobre salud e higiene bucal en gran parte de los adolescentes, el objetivo de esta investigación es elevar mediante una intervención educativa el nivel de conocimiento sobre salud bucal en adolescentes, tomando como campo de acción estudiantes de 8vo grado de la ESBEC “Antonio Betancourt Flores”, pertenecientes al área de salud del Policlínico Joel Benítez del municipio Cauto Cristo, Granma, Cuba. La investigación estuvo constituida por 132 estudiantes representando el total de la matrícula del centro, de los cuales 100 formaron parte de la muestra. Se aplicó una encuesta de conocimientos elaborada a partir de la encuesta de conocimientos prevista en el Programa Nacional de Atención Estomatológica Integral en Cuba la cual se validó por el método de pilotaje, la que arrojó las principales necesidades de aprendizaje identificadas antes de la intervención educativa relacionadas con: la pérdida dentaria y sus causas, la enfermedad periodontal, la higiene bucal y la periodicidad de visita al estomatólogo. Se demostró el impacto favorable que se alcanzó en los estudiantes después de aplicada la estrategia de intervención educativa sobre las necesidades de aprendizaje y el nivel de conocimientos sobre salud bucodental
