At left, first fire units at the scene battle the flames, which covered most of the complex before the firemen arrived. The wind-whipped four-alarm fire, the second blaze at the site in five months, reduced nine three-story buildings in the complex to a mass of rubble, right, and did more than $2 million damage. Dense smoke was visible for miles.
