Latihan Penguatan Otot Quadrisep Dan Peningkatan Fleksibilitas Otot Hamstring Terhadap Pengurangan Nyeri Dan Peningkatan Kemampuan Fungsional Pada Pasien Osteoarthritis Lutut

Background: Many activities carried out by someone in their daily life such as walking, running, jumping, squatting to stand and vice versa and going up and down stairs. Over time these activities will cause complaints in the form of pain in the knee area, known as Osteoarthritis Knee (OA). OA is a progressive degenerative disease that affects cartilage joints, subcondral bones, and synovial membranes. It has a multifactorial etiology and affects about 60% of individuals over the age of 50 years. (Hafez et al., 2013). Treatment is with exercises aimed at increasing quadriseps muscle strength and increasing hamstring muscle flexibility. Objectives: Knowing the influence of giving quadriceps muscle strengthening exercises and exercises increasing hamstring muscle flexibility to reduce pain and increase functional ability in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee. Methods: The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test without control group design. Sampling using Purposive Sampling. The number of subjects from this study were 30 people Result: The results of the influence test using Paired Sample t Test of the treatment group with pre and post test has a p value of 0,000 then there is an effect of giving quadriceps muscle strengthening exercises and exercises to increase the flexibility of hamstring muscles on pain reduction and increased functional ability. Conclusion: There is an influence on the provision of quadriceps muscle strengthening exercises and exercises to increase the flexibility of hamstring muscles against pain reduction and increased functional ability in knee osteoarthritis patients.
