Ocio ético: afrontando la alienación y la deshumanización en los hospitales

The article discusses the need to occupy the free time of patients in hospitals, and if hospital entertainment is perceived by them as a means to improve their quality of life. The analysis has been made from a structured process of collecting information by completing a questionnaire of closed questions. This methodology is intended to define, in an objective manner, the time spent on various leisure activities in the hospital. The results allow us to establish correlations between the responses of patients and the variables analyzed. The research provides empirical evidence on the profiles of registered patients, characterized by the use of their free time and the positive effects of improvements as a result. Furthermore, the need to create appropriate social institutions for ethical leisure, helping to shape what is referred to as the "process of humanization in hospitals".El artículo estudia la necesidad de ocupar el tiempo libre de los pacientes en los hospitales y si estas prácticas de animación hospitalaria son percibidas por ellos como un medio para mejorar su calidad de vida. El análisis se ha realizado a partir de un proceso estructurado de recogida de información mediante la cumplimentación de un cuestionario de preguntas cerradas. Con esta metodología se pretende delimitar, de forma objetiva, el tiempo dedicado a las diferentes actividades de ocio en el hospital. Los resultados obtenidos permiten establecer correlaciones entre las respuestas de los pacientes y las variables analizadas. La investigación ofrece evidencia empírica sobre los perfiles de los ingresados, caracterizados por los usos de su tiempo libre, los efectos positivos de mejoras en su utilización y por la necesidad de creación de instituciones sociales adecuadas para contemplar un ocio ético, contribuyendo a conformar los denominados "procesos de humanización en los hospitales"
