Identifying Students’ Mistakes in Solving the Problem about Set Theory

ABSTRACT Set theory is one of the important and fundamental concepts in modern mathematics. The study of student errors in solving the problems of set theory is very important and useful but not yet fully implemented. This study was conducted to analyze the fault (location, type, and cause errors) students in solving problems of set theory. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. Subjects were students of Mathematics Education UPGRI Palembang, amounting to 120 people. Data collected through tests and interviews. Identification of student errors in solving the problems of set theory is focused on the errors in the mathematical objects, namely concepts, principles, and procedures.
