The heat capacity of pure strontium metal was measured by adiabatic-shield calorimetry from 5 to 350 K. At 298.15 K values of the thermodynamic functions are found to be: Cp/calth K-1 mol-1 = 6.402, So/calth K-1 mol-1 = 13.313, {H (T) - Ho(0)}/calth mol-1 = 1570.2, and {Go(T) - Ho(0)}/T calth K-1 mol-1 = 8.047. Although the entropy at this temperature is in reasonable accord with another measurement (13.24 calth K-1 mol-1) reported in the literature since initiation of these studies, serious differences in the temperature dependence of the heat capacity can be best explained by the assumption that the other sample contained approximately 10 moles per cent of strontium oxide.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/22685/...
