Alan Turing proposed to consider the question, “Can machines think?” in his famous article [38]. We consider the question, “Can machines do mathematics, and how?” Turing suggested that intelligence be tested by comparing computer behaviour to human behaviour in an online discussion. We hold that this approach could be useful for assessing computational logic systems which, despite having produced formal proofs of the Four Colour Theorem, the Robbins Conjecture and the Kepler Conjecture, have not achieved widespread take up by mathematicians.
