[1]Glenside, PAJan 17. 1898.Dear Brother John:I received a letter from Sarah a day or two ago containing a P.O order for eight dollars which she said was a Christmas gift from you to myself and the children.I thank you for your kind thought of us. May the coming year be a good one for you and yours.We continue to like Glenside very much as we find it pleasant and healthful. We have had no severe weather Yet. most of the winter has seemed almost too mild - we are02384 2in about the same latitude as in Kansas City, but there is no [malaria?] hereThe children are growing as fast as possible, and doing well in their studies, they like school better here than in Portage and the teachers speak highly of them.Sarah says you are still pegging away with your pens - I often wonder what you are writing on now, and if the book of which you spoke when last I saw you is ready for publication. We saw your letter on Klondike etc. in the Philadelphia Press last fall.3I am sorry to hear that you are troubled with your throat difficulty I guess you need to climb the mountains again. I have stayed in doors [until?] I take cold very easily.
