[f.?] Yosemite46Martinez, Feb. 6, 1896My dear Mr. Johnson.Dr. McLean, as you will see by the enclosed letter, wants an introduction to you. He is now in Washington as a delegate from the Ca. River & Harbor Improvement Co. to secure appropriations for the Sacramento & San Joaquin Rivers.What he most dearly wants however is an appropriation for the purchase of the Yosemite & Park roads, one of which, the one from Coulterville to Yosemite, he owns. I suppose all these roads (described by Noble\u27s Commissioners) ought to belong to the Government & be free to visitors.The Doctor is well acquainted with Yosemite affairs but how much he cares for them outside of his pecuniary interests I dont know, though I have been slightly acquainted with him for many years. I hope therefore my introduction will not lead you to lose more time than from your own judgement when you see him seems to warranted. Your editorials in last Century are grand.Ever YoursJohn Mui
