SEATTLE, Wash.,Dec. 16, 1913.Mr. John Muir,MARTINEZ, Calif.My dear Mr. Muir:It is hardly likely that you will remember a boy of sixteen or seventeen to whom you granted the privilege of the use of your room in the University of Wisconsin during noon hour. Even if I mention my name, Will Mears, it may not revive any memories; still, I have the pleasantiest memories of you and have watched your career all these years. I tried twice to meet you in San Francisco, but without success.
