2. - had been more sick than myself,Arrived at the hotel, we tookour rooms in the fourth story. Thishotel is situated on the corner ofBroadway and Franklin streets.It is magnificently constructedboth on the exterior and interior.The eating saloon is the mostsplendid room I ever saw. Nodescription of mine can give anyone a correct idea of its beautyThe walls and ceiling are superblyornamented with carved workand gilding and adorned with beautiful mirrors. Magnificent chandeliers,each sustaining manylamps, hang suspended fromthe walls, which are supported bylarge marble pillars, which are2 - also beautifully gilded. Twosides of this room, the north andsouth sides, are hired with marble-toppedtables, by the sides of whichare cushioned seats. The interiorof the room is also occupied inthe same way. These tables areusually small, convenient foronly 3 or 4 persons; but there arelarger ones for parties. Near thecentre is a beautiful fountainin the basins of which are anumber of gold fishes, and oneother fish which we supposed tobe a trout.
