Page 394 1890. Feb. 13. Thursday. Received letter from Hannah and wrote to all the Boston children. (T.S.R. 36. 2 P.M. 50. S.S. 45.) Feb. 14. Friday. Wrote to Ada. (T.S.R. 33. 2 P.M. 53. S.S. 48.) Feb. 15. Saturday. The day was cloudy and it began to rain about 4 P.M. and the wind arose and through the night we had a terrible storm. Received letters from Calvin, Willie and Horace. (T.S.R. 39. 2 P.M. 52. S.S. 48.) Feb. 16. Sabbath. The morning was very stormy - very windy with a heavy rain, but it cleared in time for us to go to meeting though the day was a little cloudy. Rev. Thomas preached from the text, Take heed that thy heart be not deceived . We had our church meeting after the morning service. The Clements branch of the church signified their willingness to give $85. towards the salary of Mr. Thomas for another year. A committee was chosen to see if people here will renew their subscriptions, but Uncle Geo. says he will not give a cent, making for excuse the way Mr. Thomas treated Mr. Metcalf. But then he usually finds some excuse for not helping pay the salary - usually some thing does not go to suit him. (T.S.R. 46. 2 P.M. 51. S.S. 41.) Feb . 17. Monday. The whole day was cloudy and showery - very heavy rain in morning and a hail storm in the afternoon with rainy evening. Have written to Ida and received letters from Ada and Will Cooke. (T.S.R. 39. 2 P.M. 44. S.S. 43.) Feb. 18. Tuesday. Still windy and showery. Have written to Boston children. (T.S.R. 39. 2 P.M 50. S.S. 42.) Feb. 19. Wednesday. Weather still cloudy, windy and rainy. Received letters from Ada, Will Cooke and Eunice. Wrote to Mrs. Bates. (T.S.R. 40. 2 P.M. 43. S.S. 43.) Feb. 20. Thursday. The wind is still from the south and it is cloudy. We have just been able to have the Annual meeting of the Ladies Aid Society, which should have taken place the first of the year, but the weather has prevented. We met at Alice\u27s, and though but seven were present, the meeting was enthusiastic and hopeful. The former officer were all re-elected. Have written to Eunice. (T.S.R. 42. 2 P.M. 53. S.S. 46.) Feb. 21. Friday. Cloudy day and showery P.M. Have written to Ada and received letter from Ida. (T.S.R. 37. 2 P.M. 50. S.S. 45.) Page 395 1890. Feb. 22. Saturday. Still showery. Have received letters from Horace and Hannah, announcing the birth of a baby boy to Horace and Eunice, on Valentine\u27s Day, and they have named him Dean Jewett Locke. Mother and babe were doing nicely. (T.S.R. 39. 2 P.M. 47. S.S. 40.) Feb. 23. Sabbath. We have attended meeting as usual. Rev. Thomas preached from the text, Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men him will I also confess , &.c. After the morning service we held our adjourned church meeting and heard the reports of finance committees. This last Sabbath of Mr. Thomas\u27 year finds his salary all paid up and over $400. subscriptions renewed for the coming year, so it looks hopeful for our future. We adjourned to Thurs. eve next to take final action in the matter. Received letters from Willie and Calvin. Icy morning. (T.S.R. 28. 2 P.M. 45. S.S. 40.) Feb. 24. Monday. A cloudy day with windy and rainy night. Although we have had such a large amount of rain, and many things are drowned out, still it does not seem inclined to clear up. Wrote to Ida and received a letter from Eunice. (T.S.R. 37. 2 P.M. 47. S.S. 45.) Feb. 25. Tuesday. A rainy morning and a showery day. Received letter from Ida. Uncle has at last arrived there, but he had a stormy trip by steamer. They all have bad colds. Wrote to Eunice. (T.S.R. 42. 2 P.M. 50. S.S. 45.) Feb. 26. Wednesday. Have written to the Boston children and Horace and Eunice, and received a letter from my Eunice. (T.S.R. 32. 2 P.M. 45. S.S. 38.) Feb. 27. Thursday. Wrote to Ada and received letters from her and Will Cooke and Horace. The latter sent little Dean\u27s cards. The adj. church meeting was held this evening and they voted to retain Rev. Thomas another year. Uncle George has been active in talking and working against him, and his contrary course has actually made friends for Mr. Thomas of some who before were indifferent. Icy morning. (T.S.R. 26. 2 P.M. 48. S.S. 40.) Feb. 28. Friday. Cloudy again. Received letter from Uncle telling of his journey to Humboldt Co. which was a cold and stormy one. (T.S.R. 31. 2 P.M. 56.
