The Character of Salomé in Gustave Mureau´s work

My bachelor thesis focuses on the motif of Salomé in the work of Symbolist painter Gustave Moreau. The analysis of artist's work explores the influences of the oriental cultures on creation of biblical scene of St. John the Baptist's death. It also sets Moreau's work in the context of artistic creation that deals with the archetype of the femme fatale in 19th century. For comparison there is the analysis of two literary works of the same theme - a short story Herodias by Gustave Flaubert and Oscar Wilde's play Salomé
